Regardless of your nationality, political affiliation, or general outlook on life, I hope you can join me in supporting the men and women from many nations that are called far from their homes to work in their country's military. One of these women is my sister of whom I am very proud. I am a veteran of the US Air Force who has served in combat operations in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In fact, many of the graphics you will see on this website were drawn inside a dusty GP-medium tent in the middle of a desert during Op. Iraqi Freedom. I also occasionally lugged my computer (a Panasonic Toughbook - the only laptop that can survive a desert war...literally) from my tent and into the bunker where I worked while on duty, and when there was no more work to be done I would unpack it, brush the wind-blown dust from the table, and start drawing another city tile or building interior.
Thankfully, I am now a civilian and no
longer called at a moment's notice to various parts of the world. But many
men and women still are in the military, and they are working hard in
conditions that I shake my head to remember. I worked with soldiers and
airmen from dozens of countries from around the world, and so my heart goes
out to their families scattered across
the
Americas,
Europe,
and Asia.
These are just a few examples of the scores of city tiles I drew in a tent located in the middle of a dust-blown wasteland during Operation Iraqi Freedom:
